Award-winning Accessible Accommodation

Rothay Manor has excellent accommodation for those with mobility issues, with one Classic room on the ground floor and the Loughrigg Suite in the grounds specially adapted for wheelchair users in accordance with National Accessible Scheme Category 2 guidelines.

In 2010, the hotel was runner-up in the Cumbria Tourism  'Access For All' Awards, pipped at the post by The Beacon at Whitehaven which is a purpose-built building.

There is an allocated Disabled Car Parking space close to the entrance of the hotel entrance, and one in front of the Loughrigg Suite.

There is a dedicated disabled access at the side of the hotel as the main hotel entrance has just one step from the car park into reception, although there is a portable ramp available for those who prefer to use it.

Once inside there is level access to Reception, the lounges and the Restaurant, which are spacious and laid out with plenty of room for wheelchairs to manoeuvre. If you require assistance with luggage etc, please ask at Reception.

Room service is available between 8am - 1.45pm and 6.00-9pm and we are happy to cater for any specific dietary requirements with prior notice. The hotel is completely 'no-smoking'.

An Accessible Unisex Toilet is situated on the ground floor near Reception and has the appropriate hand rails etc and automatic taps. Although the hotel does not allow pets as a general rule, we do welcome registered Assistance Dogs.

Access to both the centre of Ambleside (10 minute walk) with its shops, cafés and restaurants; and also to the head of Lake Windermere (15 minute walk in the opposite direction) where it is possible to take a cruise on the Lake is on good, level paths

The National Trust Access Guide is given free of charge to our guests.
