The Restaurant

The Rothay Manor restaurant is open every day for Breakfast, Lunch, Afternoon Tea and Dinner.

Overlooking the gardens, it is bright and airy during the day and by night transformed into an intimate candle lit dining experience. 
In keeping with Rothay Manor's long standing tradition, dinner tables are set in a classical style, with crystal glasses, silver cutlery, fine china crockery and linen napkins.

The daily changing menu offers flavours from Cumbria and around the world.  We pride ourselves on our freshly prepared and cooked menu with everything made on the premises.  Where possible, all ingredients are sourced locally - bacon and  Cumberland sausage from F.W Garside in Ambleside, fish from Morecambe and Fleetwood, game from Cartmel and Holker Hall, local cheeses and ethically sourced tea and coffee from Farrer's of Kendal.


Breakfast is informal with a buffet for juices, cereals, assorted fresh and dried fruits, yoghurt and various healthy options. Enjoy our homemade marmalade and jams, freshly cut fruit salad,  secret recipe muesli, freshly squeezed orange juice and award winning Cumbrian breakfast which is cooked to order. 
Rothay Manor marmalade, jam and muesli are available to purchase at Reception. 


Afternoon Tea offers a wide selection of cakes, savouries and sandwiches, all freshly prepared daily by the kitchen team, and of course accompanied by a wide variety of fine teas  - or treat yourself to our Sparkling Afternoon Tea which also includes a glass of Champagne!

The dinner menu changes daily and includes pre-dinner canapes, coffee and petit fours, as well as our fabulous freshly baked bread.  With a choice of six starters, six main courses and six desserts, along with a soup or sorbet option and cheese course there is something for all, from the lightest to most hearty eaters.

Service is friendly, efficient and unobtrusive while our comprehensive wine list offers wines to suit all budgets
and tastes.



Christmas / New Year Restaurant Opening Times 2012/2013

The Restaurant will be open as follows

Christmas Day Lunch - 12.30 for 13.30, 5 course traditional turkey lunch with champagne and canapés, £115 per person.

New Years Eve Black Tie celebration dinner - 18.45 for 19.30, includes champagne and canapés pre dinner, party games, champagne and fireworks at midnight,£100 per person.

Lunch will be available everyday except Christmas Day and New Years Day.

Dinner is served every night except Christmas Day:

December 23,24, 26, 27, 30 December and 01 January 2012 -  19.00 for 19.30 Only, 4 course dinner, £45 per person
December 28, 29, 30  - 7.00pm to 9.00pm 2 - 5 course dinner, £29.50 to £50 per person
