A record-breaking powerboat pilot has survived crashing at 130 mph on Coniston Water.
Keith Whittle, 57, from Hayling Island in Hampshire, was taking part in the Power Boat Records Week when his boat flipped. The annual event has been running in the Lake District for over 40 years.
Mr Whittle escaped with minor injuries but his accident was reminiscent of Donald Campbell’s fatal crash in January 1967.
The accident was caught on film by a spectator and Keith reflected on the incident in an interview with the BBC: www.youtube.com/watch?v=pJlt-WjeAIE
