Tourist 'lucky to be alive' after 500ft drop

An American tourist was lucky to escape with only minor injuries after rolling her car down one of the steepest passes in England.

Holidaymaker Jane Lukic, 60, rolled 500ft down the descent of Wrynose Pass into Little Langdale, before her car came to a stop on it’s side.

Two witnesses raced down the mountain pass to the drivers’ aid. The Langdale and Ambleside Mountain Rescue Team spent three hours at the scene.

Mrs Lukic suffered a broken arm, laceration to the head and slight concussion after the incident but was discharged from hospital just days later.
