Enjoy a break at the lovely Rothay Manor Hotel in the spectacular setting of the English Lake District. Learn how to use your camera to take worthwhile photographs of landscapes and people.
We will make several outings to stunning locations in the Lake District and have the opportunity to take some portrait photographs. You will be shown how to enhance images on a computer and then given the opportunity to practice with your own photographs. Help will be on hand from a professional photographer and experienced group leader.
The holiday is suitable for compact camera and DSLR owners who wish to improve their technique and have the opportunity to photograph the superb landscape of the Lake District. Most photographers use digital cameras today but film users are welcome to attend also as yout tutor is experienced in both forms. The course is eminently suitable for single persons.

For one session, friendly local female models will be available for learning and practice of portraiture, within the lovely grounds and the Regency rooms of the hotel.
We will undertake several outings to beautiful and photogenic locations in the Ambleside and Langdale valley areas to photograph lakes, tarns, rivers waterfalls and other landscape views. We will also make an extended outing to the Northern Lakes to photograph lakes, boats and one of Britain’s finest prehistoric stone circles.
Subject to favourable light, there will be an (optional) dawn outing to a tarn and an evening sunset outing, when the light is at its best.
Approach to learning
Studio sessions will include a little theory and
inspirational slide shows by your tutor, who will
also demonstrate how to download and enhance
images on a computer. You will then have the
opportunity to practice on your own computer,
should you wish to do so.
Your tutor is an excellent communicator who is
adept at de-mystifying the complexities of digital
photography and will offer you simple strategies to
quickly master your camera and then enjoy taking
photographs. He is enthusiastic and helpful when
needed and will not be critical of your work. Dan’s

Dan Evans is an experienced and versatile social and commercial photographer, who captures high quality wedding, portrait, landscape and nature images as well as product shots for marketing use. Dan’s images have appeared in books, magazines and brochures as well on calendars CD covers and websites. www.danevansphotography.co.uk
Dan is also an experienced group leader who has previously used his local knowledge to lead photography courses in the Lakes, which have been supported by Kodak and other leading manufacturers.
Prices are per person for the 5 nights and include full Cumbrian breakfast, morning coffee, 3-course dinner and VAT @ 20 %.
Non-participating partners are welcome at a reduction of £30 on the above prices. A deposit of £150 per person is required for the holiday. This is non-refundable unless the room is subsequently re let; cancellation insurance is available.
