Enjoy a break in the lovely Rothay Manor Hotel in the spectacular setting of the English Lake District. Learn how to use your camera to take impactful photographs of landscapes and people.
We will make several outings to stunning locations in the Lake District and have the opportunity to do some Portrait work.
You will be shown best practice then given guidance in correcting and enhancing your own photographs. Help will be on hand from a professional photographer and experienced group leader.
The holiday is suitable for compact camera and DSLR owners who wish to improve their technique and have the opportunity to photograph the superb landscape of the Lake District. Most photographers use digital cameras today but film users are welcome to attend also. The course is eminantly suitable for single persons.
* Understanding colour, light and composition.
* How best to use your camera, lenses and supports.
* Digital workflow - downloading and organising images.
* Correcting and enhancing images using Adobe Photoshop.
For one session two friendly amateur local female models will be available for learning and practice of portraiture, within the lovely grounds and the Regency rooms of the hotel.
We will undertake several outings to beautiful and photogenic locations in the Ambleside, Coniston and Langdale valley areas to photograph lakes, tarns, rivers waterfalls and other landscape views. We will also make an extended minibus outing to the Northern Lakes to photograph lakes, boats and one of Britain’s finest prehistoric stone circles.
There will be an (optional) dawn outing to a tarn and an evening sunset outing, when the light is at its best
Reviews, slide shows and digital imaging
Evening sessions will include inspirational and instructional slide-shows by the tutor plus slide-shows of the best of participants’ work to share best practice. Digital workflow, correcting and enhancing images will be demonstrated by the tutor on his laptop computer and you will then have the opportunity to practice on your own computer or share with others. Your tutor will be positive and supportive of your work.

Dan Evans is an experienced and versatile social and commercial photographer, who captures high quality wedding, portrait, landscape and nature images as well as product shots for marketing use. Prices are per person for the 5 nights and include full Cumbrian breakfast, morning coffee, 3-course dinner and VAT @ 20 %.
Non-participating partners are welcome at a reduction of £30 on the above prices. A deposit of £150 per person is required for the holiday. This is non-refundable unless the room is subsequently re let; cancellation insurance is available.
