Ideal if its a wet day (in the Lakes? Perish the thought!), but also great for the kids to go and play while you are finishing your breakfast or getting ready to go out.

A variety of board games will be available in the Brathay Room(unless it is required for a private function) until 7pm for children and mum's and dad's to play. You can play in the Brathay Room, or take the games to your room, although we would be grateful if you could return them when you have finished playing

SUMMER BREAKS

With the school holidays upon us once more, enjoy the last days of summer here in the in the Lakes.

There's plenty to see and do whatever the weather - a cruise on one of the Lakes is great when the weathers nice and opens up some spectacular views (Windermere is closest but Coniston, Ullswater and Derwentwater are not far away).

Or why not do a circular walk? The walk to Grasmere along the old 'Coffin Route' is a nice easy walk, and interesting too - spot the old stones where they used to rest the coffins en-route from Ambleside to the nearest church in Grasmere. You can walk back over Loughriff terrace if you feel up to it, or catch one of the open-topped buses to bring you back.

If the weathers having an 'off day', the Lakes Aquarium at Newby Bridge is ideal for the kids with interactive displays and lots of thiings to see and do. Don't forget to say 'hi' to the otters! (Ask at reception before you for your 10% discount voucher).
