Disabled Guests
Disabled guests are welcome at Rothay Manor,
where one Ground Floor bedroom and a Suite have been specially
adapted for wheelchair use in accordance with National Accessible
Scheme Category 2 guidelines.
There is an allocated Disabled Car Parking space close to the entrance of the hotel as well as in front of the suite in the grounds, with a dedicated disabled
access at the side of the hotel (the main
hotel entrance has just one step from the car park into reception,
for which a portable ramp is available). Once inside there is level
access to Reception, the lounges and the dining room. If you require assistance with luggage etc, please ask at reception.
Both the lounges and the dining room are spacious and well-laid out with plenty of room for wheelchairs to manouevre.
The Ground Floor bedroom in the hotel and the Loughrigg Suite in the grounds have bathrooms equipped with a bath and also a roll-in shower with non-slip flooring for which shower-chairs are available. The appropriate grab rails are fitted by the bath and toilet as well as in the shower. A stool for use by the wash basin and toilet raisers are available on request.
Room service is available between 8am - 1.45pm and 6.00-9pm and we are happy to cater for any specific dietary requirements with prior notice. The hotel is completely 'no-smoking'.
Ground Floor bedroom
is a large well-appointed Standard room with level access
to Reception, the lounges and the dining room. The room has
a double and a single bed and a sitting area with plenty of
space for a wheelchair to manoeuvre. The bathroom has been
adapted in line with Category 2 guidelines and has a bath
as well as a separate walk-in shower for which a shower chair
is available.

Loughrigg Suite
is a 2-bedroomed bungalow in the grounds of the hotel approximately
20m from the main building. The suite has 1 double and 1 twin-bedded
room, a separate sitting room with a door leading
to a private terrace from which there is ramped access to
the main gardens. The bathroom has been adapted in line with
Category 2 guidelines and has a bath as well as a separate
walk-in shower (shower chair available). There
is private parking directly outside the lodge and a level
pathway leading to the main hotel building.
There is an Accessible Unisex Toilet on the ground floor by reception which has the appropriate hand rails etc and easy to use taps. Although the hotel does not allow pets as a general rule, we do welcome registered Assistance Dogs.
There are good, level paths from the hotel to both the centre of Ambleside (10 minute walk) with its shops, cafes and restaurants; and also in the opposite direction to the head of Lake Windermere (15 minute walk) where it is possible to take a cruise on the Lake.
The National Trust Access Guide is available free of charge for our guests.
