Grounds & Gardens

A delightful, mature garden with many interesting shrubs and large trees. The comfortable garden furniture scattered around the garden invites you to 'rest awhile' and relax with the newspaper or a good book while enjoying the sunshine.
We are happy to serve drinks in the garden for you as well as Light Lunch and Afternoon Tea.
Take a stroll around the garden and see if you can identify the many birds that frequent it, or maybe you will spot a red squirrel or a deer.
We normally have small roe deer in the garden - although they don't do the plants much good! - but 2 stags were spotted in the garden in the early part of the year causing quite a stir at breakfast time.

Rothay Manor is a member of the Tourism and Conservation Partnership and is currently supporting 'Red Squirrel Conservation', as well as 'Footpath Preservation', so if you do see a red squirrel, plese let us know.
To the right-hand side of the garden there is a summerhouse, which is a rare example of a revolving summerhouse - although at the moment it is only used to store the croquet equipment.
You are welcome to play croquet on the lawn - just ask at Reception for the key to the summerhouse to access the equipment; or if a relaxing game of boules is more your line, we have a set that you can borrow.
