BIRD lovers will be given an opportunity to spot a unique bird that nests on the banks of the river Kent this weekend.

Armed with telescopes and binoculars, staff and volunteers from the RSPB will be along Kent Place, Kendal, showing people dippers between 10am and 6pm on Saturday and Sunday.

Christina Turtle, people engagement officer for the RSPB, said: “These birds are incredibly shy and special and are great fun to watch. They have this fantastically comical bobbing motion when they’re perched and a remarkable way of walking into and underwater when searching for food.”
