The Start of the New Season

As we opened the doors for the start of our 43rd season, members of staff got together to raise a toast to 2010.
The major refurbishment of the Loughrigg Suite is nearing completion, with the carpets being laid tomorrow, and should be ready for the first guests by the end of the week.

Snow, snow, snow!!!

After the rain – comes the snow! It started snowing yesterday afternoon and by evening there was a good covering. We’re delighted to tell you that here at Rothay Manor we have managed to escape the worst floods ever seen in the area – and indeed the country!  Although we were  more of an ‘island’ than normal for a while, with a new ‘lake’ in the garden, the hotel itself was free from any water ingress.

Cumbria restaurants retain Good Food Guide rankings

CARTMEL’S L’enclume has retained its number 13 slot in the 2010 Good Food Guide’s Top 50 Restaurants, while Windermere’s Holbeck Ghyll has moved up one place to the number 23 position in the presitigious listing.
