A LIMOUSINE carrying 12 football supporters became stuck in deep snow and ice on a treacherous Lakeland road on New Year’s Day.
Langdale and Ambleside Mountain Rescue Team spent more than an hour and a half evacuating the group – who were travelling to a Barrow AFC match – on Kirkstone Pass.

An ‘interesting’ day in Ambleside

We’re delighted to tell you that here at Rothay Manor we have managed to escape the worst floods ever seen in the area – and indeed the country!  Although we were  more of an ‘island’ than normal for a while, with a new ‘lake’ in the garden, the hotel itself was free from any water ingress.

Eddie Izzard running through Cumbria

A FLAMBOYANT comedian famous for going off on a tangent knew exactly where he was heading when he ran through Cumbria on a charity marathon. Funnyman Eddie Izzard has been running a marathon a day to raise money for Sport’s Relief and his progress through the county certainly raised a few smiles.
