Walking
Whether a stroller or a keen
hiker, the Lake District offers a wealth of walks -
by the lakeshore, in forests, in the valleys or along
the high ridges & fells.

Horse Riding
Available from a variety of locations, the nearest being
4 miles away. We have a list of establishments from
which to choose - hourly, half-day or full-day. |

Cycling
& Mountain Biking
Mountain bikes can be hired
here in Ambleside or in Grisedale Forest, where there
are many excellent trails.

Water Sports
Dinghy Sailing, Canoeing, Waterskiing and Windsurfing
are all available on Lake Windermere. Rowing boats can
be hired nearby at Waterhead. |

Golf
Windermere is the nearest golf
course, at which you need a handicap. Courses are also
at Keswick, Kendal and a links course at Ulverston.

Fishing
Nearby Eshthwaite Water has its own trout fishery -
rods are provided. For the more serious, Rothay Manor
has two free permits for the local Angling Club waters,
which has both coarse and game fishing on various rivers,
tarns and reservoirs. |
