January Watercolour Painting Holiday

PROGRAMME
* Studio Work - Exploring colour, colour mixing and making a colour chart; experiment with Coloured Pencils, an interesting and manageable medium much favoured by David Hockney (coloured pencils provided); Still Life in coloured pencils; Painting an interior part of the hotel; Paintings from sketches made on the outings.
* Dallam Towers - A whole day visit to to paint and sketch at this lovely country house and gardens containing a very interesting Victorian Orangery. Light lunch provided.
* Aquarium of the Lakes - one of Windermere’s major attractions to paint and draw in the Aquarium or the super view across Lake Windermere from the quayside or in the cafe.
* Slides & Discussion
- paintings of Interior Views from all centuries.
* Evening sessions
- David Hockney’s video on Perspective; appraisal of work in progress; Quiz evening.
The course will finish on Friday morning
with an informal exhibition of paintings and appraisal of
work achieved.
TUTOR
The course tutor, Audrey Jerram, is very experienced in teaching
painters. She and her husband, Peter, ran a guest house for
painters in Hartsop, near Ullswater, and so is well acquainted
with the Lake District. They now run a similar establishment
in Wiltshire. Audrey paints in predominately in acrylics and
water colour, but uses other media from time to time.
Her London exhibitions include one person
shows in Foyles Art Gallery, Queensland House Gallery, and
the Loggia Gallery. In 1994 she had an exhibition at the Collins
Street Gallery in Melbourne, and as a result was commissioned
to paint in the Gold Fields of Western Australia in 1997,
followed by another exhibition in Melbourne. Her paintings
are in private collections in numerous countries.

The 5-night holiday
runs from Sunday evening through to mid-morning Friday, and the
price is per person and includes early morning tea, full English
breakfast, morning coffee, 4-course dinner and V.A.T. for
the 5 night stay.
Non-participating
partners are welcome, and the cost for them is £50
less than above.
We ask for a deposit
of £150 per person for the 5-night holiday, which can
be by cheque or credit card. This is non-refundable unless
the room is subsequently relet, and cancellation insurance
is available.
