Oil Painting Holiday in the Lake District

* Studio Work - Colour mixing experiments; Drawing and painting from a model, with poses for figures in a landscape; Choice of proportions of a canvas eg painting in a long thin format to emphasise height; Egg Tempera (materials provided); Painting from sketches made on outings.

* Leighton Hall - A full day out to the country house home of the Gillow family. We will be able to paint and draw in this friendly house or in the garden where there are panoramic views of the surrounding Fells. Coffee and lunch will be provided.

* Glenridding Pier - Half day by minibus to sketch from the pier head, inspiring views of Ullswater, boats and the surrounding Fells.

* Slide Presentation and discussion - ‘Mountains and Lakes in Art’

* Ken Howard RA - a new DVD showing Ken Howard painting in Venice and other locations.

* Evening sessions - Video, slide presentation, appraisal of work in progress and fun quiz.

The course will finish on the Friday morning with an informal exhibition of paintings and appraisal of work achieved. Within the course, there is plenty of scope for artists to develop their individual ideas.

Audrey Jerram TUTOR
The course tutor, Audrey Jerram, is very experienced in teaching painters. She and her husband, Peter, ran a guest house for painters in Hartsop, near Ullswater, and so is well acquainted with the Lake District. They now run a similar establishment in Wiltshire. Audrey paints in predominately in acrylics and water colour, but uses other media from time to time.

Her London exhibitions include one person shows in Foyles Art Gallery, Queensland House Gallery, and the Loggia Gallery. In 1994 she had an exhibition at the Collins Street Gallery in Melbourne, and as a result was commissioned to paint in the Gold Fields of Western Australia in 1997, followed by another exhibition in Melbourne. Her paintings are in private collections in numerous countries.

The 5-night holiday runs from Sunday evening through to mid-morning Friday, and the price is per person and includes early morning tea, full English breakfast, morning coffee, 4-course dinner and V.A.T. for the 5 night stay.

Non-participating partners are welcome, and the cost for them is £50 less than above.

We ask for a deposit of £150 per person for the 5-night holiday, which can be by cheque or credit card. This is non-refundable unless the room is subsequently relet, and cancellation insurance is available.
